Hey Android users – just a head’s up that Meta’s Messenger Lite app will be shutting down by September 18th. Also regarding mobile devices, to tap into the way younger generations meet socially online, Meta is beta testing the launch of Horizon Worlds to expand the promise of the metaverse.

Next up, LinkedIn has made some updates to their algorithm and notifications. Namely, showing users more content from the people and pages they engage with most, reducing some notifications for certain actions, and putting more focus on hashtag engagement. Here’s how LinkedIn describes the recent updates.

From YouTube, a new approach to policy enforcement actions is coming. This update is focused on education instead of punishing users for transgressions.

Of the change, YouTube says: “Starting today, creators will have the option of taking an educational training course when they receive a Community Guidelines warning. These resources will provide new ways for creators to understand how they can avoid uploading content that violates our policies in the future. Completion of the course will lift the warning from a creator’s channel – so long as they don’t violate the same policy for 90 days.”

YouTube also released a new interview with Shorts Product Lead Todd Sherman, to dive into questions about Shorts. You can watch it here.

And finally, Snapchat is still on the generative AI train. A new element called ‘Dreams’ will let users create fantastical dreamscapes with your image. Here’s the scoop.

And that’s it for now. We’ll catch you next week with more updates!
