Pancakes, crepes, griddle cakes, Frixuelos, or short stacks. Whatever they’re called, they are certainly delicious!

Yes, today is National Pancake Day, a celebration launched in 2006 by International House of Pancakes.

Ihop Pancake DaySince the event’s inception, IHOP has raised more than $10 million to support charities.  Today, you can enjoy a free short stack of Buttermilk pancakes at IHOP.  In return for the free pancakes, you will be asked to consider leaving a donation for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals© or other designated local charities.

While enjoying a short stack on this fine holiday, relax and savor your fluffy masterpieces.  Soft  buttery texture?  Spongy goodness?  Drenched in syrup?  (What’s not to love?)  Our hairy ancestors may agree: Pancakes are said to have been one of the first foods enjoyed by our caveman friends.

Right here in 2013, there are many ways to enjoy these succulent griddle cake, and, of course, tell all your friends about it.

This is where social media steps in.  The current uprising of human beings unable to enjoy, well, anything without posting, tweeting, or pinning, is undeniable.

So lets go full throttle and raise awareness about our love of PANCAKES!

Here are a few fun ways to celebrate #NationalPancakeDay on Social Media:

  • Use the hashtag
#NationalPancakeDay is trending on Twitter.  Join the fun and meet new people!
  • Instagram
Take a vintage photo of yourself enjoying your free pancakes, and tell your followers which charity you are donating to.
  • Vine it!
Record a video for Twitter.  6 seconds (the amount of time allowed on Twitter’s new video platform Vine) is the perfect length of time to show yourself taking a big bite of your delicious short stack. Open wide!
Pin a photo of a delicious-looking pancake stack and link it to your favorite recipe.

Okay, gotta run! I’ve gotta get to IHOP before my next meeting!
