Hi, all! Let’s start things off with YouTube. Premium subscribers will be getting access to generative AI elements, such as AI comment summaries and an in-stream AI bot. Users can also experiment with music production with the help of AI in the new “Dream Track” feature.
Next up, Meta. Inbox notes are coming to Messenger, similar to Instagram’s Notes feature, in the interest of sparking new conversations. Two new generative AI projects are also coming. The first is “Emu Video,” described as a “text-to-video model that uses the Emu image generation model and “can respond to text-only, image-only or combined text & image inputs to generate high quality video.” The second feature is “Emu Edit,” which allows for “free-form editing through text instructions.”
Meta is still keeping up work on Threads. Topic tags (not to be confused with hashtags) are coming, but the biggest driver of engagement according to experts is “conversation starters.”
And finally, two miscellaneous updates: TikTok is adding the option to create your own AR effect, and Facebook is removing the “Hobbies” section from user profiles.
That’s all for now! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we’ll catch you again next week with more updates.
