Lots of updates from Meta this time around. To start us off, Threads announced the launch of their web app to come this week. That means users can post, scroll, and engage as usual from your PC. Once it becomes available, you can log in at https://www.threads.net/. It also looks like voice posts are coming to the platform.
In a similar thread (pun intended), Instagram is bringing audio clips to the Notes section of the app. Here’s a look.
Next, Meta is also looking to make translation services better with SeamlessM4T, “the first all-in-one, multilingual multimodal translation model.” According to Meta, “This single model can perform tasks across speech-to-text, speech-to-speech, text-to-text translation & speech recognition for up to 100 languages depending on the task.”
And last but not least, YouTube is testing out a new function: a “channel shelf” in the Subscription feed, “as a way to make it easier for viewers to find the content they’re looking for, to put less pressure on creators to upload multiple times a day, and to make it simpler for viewers to engage with the content in the shelf and/or navigate to other content while scrolling in their feed.”
That’s all for this week!
