Yesterday’s Presidential Inauguration caused a lot of excitement – especially on Twitter. More than one million tweets were sent out during the ceremony, easily overshadowing the 82,392 tweets that were posted during the 2009 swearing-in.
This extreme usage caused a bit of an engineering nightmare, and many Twitter users had trouble tweeting. The company confirmed the issue on its status blog, stating, “Some users may be experiencing issues accessing Twitter. Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue.”
At the moment, things appear to be back to tweeting as usual. Tweet on.
Ah ha! So that was the culprit yesterday. I couldn’t seem to get Twitter working for hours. Now, it all makes sense.
