If you’re curious about the personal info certain social media platforms keep on you, you may be happy to learn that Meta is updating its Accounts Center to hold personal account data that users can download. In Meta’s words, here’s what that means:
“Download Your Information and Access Your Information are now centralized in Accounts Center, and you can now download information from both your Facebook and Instagram accounts at the same time. For example, you might want to download photos that you’ve uploaded to both platforms – now you can, with a single action. Or you can still choose to download your information for Facebook and Instagram separately.”
Next, a whole host of updates are on their way to Threads! Messaging, branded content tags, post editing, voice notes, and the ability to tag Instagram users who don’t yet have an account are all present or in development at the moment. Exciting stuff!
YouTube is joining the AI train with the launch of Spotlight Moments, an AI-driven ad package that identifies popular YouTube videos related to a specific cultural moment and puts them into playlists that brands can be a part of. Also, a new range of UI updates are coming to the platform: including audio controls, bigger preview thumbnails, screen locking, and more.
And one final update: TikTok will be making captions a default feature automatically applied to videos as of next month.
That’s it for now! We’ll catch you next week.
